A new cash center is set to be established on the outskirts of Brussels by The National Bank of Belgium. This center will facilitate the storage, management, and processing of banknotes and coins, as well as provide a laboratory and expertise service for detecting counterfeit banknotes. The highly secure infrastructure will automate much of the logistics process involved in circulating euro banknotes and will be situated on a 3.7 ha site, easily accessible via the motorway network.

The infrastructure will consist of three buildings:

  • a two-story administrative building equipped with offices, meeting rooms, and a company restaurant.
  • a highly secure, single storey industrial building located at the center of the site
  • a cash transport access and control building

The buildings will be powered by an independent energy supply system comprising of solar panels and a geothermal installation.

Stringent quality and safety standards will be upheld in areas such as the cafeteria, meeting rooms, and cash processing premises due to their sensitive nature.

Our mission(s)

The architectural and logistical aspects of the project, as well as the technical building services (HVAC, electricity, fire detection, etc.), roads and structural engineering were entrusted to the teams of TPF Engineering and Arcoteam. Samyn and Partners acted as agents and collaborated with the two teams on the project. The mission also included the studies and monitoring of the execution of the works.
